As part of our continued commitment to the environment, and through our partnership with One Tree Planted, the PPD clinical research business of Thermo Fisher Scientific will plant a tree for every patient enrolled in a PPD site. As a leading clinical research organization committed to environmental sustainability, we believe that planting the seeds of change now will benefit future generations. These initiatives engage patients, sites and sponsors while, helping to sequester carbon and provide clean air and water around the planet — making the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
One Tree Planted
One Tree Planted is a nonprofit organization focused on global reforestation. Since 2014, they have planted more than 100 million trees in over 80 countries around the world. By partnering with One Tree Planted, we are raising awareness for the importance of green clinical trials.
We are dedicated to making clinical trials more environmentally sustainable through:
- Investing in our Decentralized Clinical Trial Ecosystem, which includes capabilities such as near-patient solutions and community health care, to reduce dependency on transportation and support access to clinical trials for all.
- Engaging with the Pistoia Alliance in a cross-industry partnership to understand activity-based models to reduce carbon footprint.
- Accelerating the transition of all United States locations to be powered by 100% renewable electricity by 2026 and supporting the use of aviation biofuel through United Airlines Eco-Skies Alliance™.
- Expanding our greener product alternatives and Energy Star-certified products to enable scientists to advance sustainability in the lab.
- Committing to reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
