PPD Laboratory services careers span the globe. We employ talented teams of laboratory professionals at our GMP lab in Athlone, Ireland, where we are expanding to double our footprint, and at our central lab in Brussels, Belgium, where our team is also growing.
“Not only is this an opportunity to join a fast-growing organization that provides a comprehensive total compensation package, inclusive of benefits and perks, but it’s also a chance to grow professionally in an organization that provides our colleagues with regular opportunities for career movement and development,” said Marguerite Gately, senior recruiter for both the GMP lab and central lab.
Flexible career pathways allow colleagues to develop their careers the way they want. Since 2001, David Berro y De Vos has progressed in his career from medical technologist to associate laboratory manager with our central lab in Belgium. The central lab scope of services includes handling, processing, analysis of specimens, reporting test results and delivering lab reports to our customers.
“I invested energy in my work, training people, showing an unstoppable willingness to learn and using my problem-solving skills. In return, PPD invested in me with trainings, career advancement and opportunities to lead trainings around the world,” said David.
Barbara Browne, group leader at our GMP lab in Athlone, also has a successful track record within PPD Laboratory services careers. The GMP lab specializes in chemistry, manufacturing and controls (CMC) activities and commercial release testing of pharmaceutical products. It offers fully integrated solutions for analytical development, including analytical testing services in method development, method validation, method transfer, release and stability studies.
“I have had great opportunities to grow my career at PPD over the last almost seven years, from when I started as a scientist, to now being a group leader for a team of nine scientists. Every day in this job is different. I help others problem-solve, collaborate with other teams to find solutions and focus on process improvements. Here, all my ideas are listened to and valued. I have also been lucky enough to be involved with clients who have exciting and progressive drug products in development,” said Barbara.
In addition to investing in colleagues, the company also invests in facilities. This year will see the unveiling of additional state-of-the-art laboratory space in our GMP lab in Athlone.
“Our enlarged operations will enhance our capabilities in leading technologies related to biopharmaceutical testing and speciality testing for biologics and small molecules,” said Chris Fikry, executive vice president of global laboratory services.
Working in the Athlone lab as an assistant scientist, Victor Advincula Yecora is looking forward to the expansion.
“In my final year completing a masters in analytical chemistry at the University of Barcelona, I was invited to attend the Barcelona University Careers Fair. … I was motivated to apply for a role with PPD’s GMP lab, and I have not looked back since. With the lab expansion and PPD’s recent integration into Thermo Fisher Scientific, there are many opportunities opening with our team. The expanding GMP lab is an exciting place to work,” said Victor.
