Our DE&I Journey


At Thermo Fisher Scientific, we strive for an inclusive, global environment that values the power of diverse talent, backgrounds and experiences, allowing us to foster an atmosphere where everyone feels like they belong and can thrive. When we treat each other with respect and support and work together in the spirit of our 4i Values of integrity, involvement, innovation, and intensity, we can make a difference in the world – resulting in successful outcomes for all.

Our focus on diversity, equity and inclusion considers all dimensions of diversity and the intersectionality of those dimensions. With the support of our business resource groups, we work to drive equity across gender, race, ethnicity and generations, regardless of one’s sexual orientation, disability or military status.


Fostering an atmosphere of belonging and inclusion requires us to develop focused strategies informed by data and tailored to the needs of individual groups. Our five-year Diversity Equity and Inclusion strategic plan has served as our roadmap and guided our progress since 2017. Over this time, we have continued to strengthen our culture of inclusion, embracing diversity as an essential aspect of fulfilling our Mission. Learn more about our DE&I strategic plan here.

Partnerships


We are proud to partner with organizations focused on building diversity in engineering, technology, science and business. To further inform and support our talent engagement, we build partnerships with diversity-focused organizations to recruit top talent from underrepresented groups. These relationships enable us to fulfill our Mission and our commitment to fostering positive change internally and externally.
 
Our strategic initiatives like The Just Project, a multifaceted partnership with historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), have given us the opportunity to build long-lasting relationships that maximize results over time in recruiting top talent. Through an initial donation of $32 million in instruments, kits and supplies, to support free COVID-19 testing for HBCU students and faculty, The Just Project has provided the technical expertise to help build a robust and sustainable testing infrastructure that is now staffed and operated by HBCUs. These schools, for generations, have played an essential role in closing America’s achievement gap, including training top talent in STEM fields. We are proud to continue building relationships like these that ensure we are empowering and hiring diverse talent.
