PPD's hospital-adjacent clinical research unit in Las Vegas, Nevada, supports first-in-human through proof-of-concept trials in both healthy and patient volunteers. The unit offers expertise in a wide variety of studies with special emphasis on metabolic studies and has access to a diverse population to support the enrollment of trials in special populations including the elderly, diabetics and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) patients.
Conveniently located near the McCarran International Airport, the Las Vegas facility benefits from its proximity to multiple universities - including two medical schools - as well as six local research sites to optimize volunteer recruitment.
Prequalified volunteers receive a detailed explanation of the study requirements and known potential risks, and their questions are answered. Volunteers are then asked to sign the study-specific informed consent form approved by the institutional review board. Study volunteers are qualified for trial participation by the principal investigator based on a review of the subject's medical history, the results of a thorough physical exam and the required diagnostic tests.
