Additional Senior Leadership Team Members
As global head of PPD’s Commercial Centers of Excellence, Cindy Markham is responsible for both the customer experience in engaging with PPD and key strategies to support the company’s commercial teams across the enterprise.
In this role, Markham leads marketing and sales enablement, partnership solutions and strategic proposal development. Marketing engages customers as they seek a drug development partner, while sales enablement ensures PPD’s field teams are ready to serve customers when they begin work with PPD. Partnership solutions offers bespoke partnership models driven by benchmarking measures of success important to customers. Strategic proposal development responds to customer inquiries, offering tailored solutions and strategies to further assets on the drug development continuum.
Markham has more than 20 years of leadership experience with private and public companies, where she has led the global expansion of Phase II-IV business and helped to achieve substantial sales growth. She has earned multiple awards and recognition for sales performance, while also working cross functionally to ensure operational excellence and key financial performance.
Markham previously served as global head of strategic proposal development at PPD. In addition, she previously had leadership responsibility for establishing the selling strategy for PPD-SNBL, the company’s joint venture in Japan with Shin Nippon Biomedical Laboratories Ltd., and for building a new infrastructure to optimize selling for corporate partnerships.
Before joining PPD in 2003, Markham held several business development roles and served in clinical operations and project management for another contract research organization. Earlier in her career, she taught project management courses at the University of Santa Cruz.
Markham earned a bachelor’s degree in nutrition and a Master of Public Health in nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
