Fraser Smith serves as executive director of clinical quality assurance for PPD’s global quality and compliance function. In that role he utilizes his leadership and expertise to guide PPD in providing industry-leading quality service to clients.
Fraser previously served as the leader of PPD’s pharmacovigilance department in Bellshill, U.K. He is a seasoned healthcare professional with a diverse industry background that includes leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson Medical, Systagenix Wound Management and quality assurance organizations in Good Practice disciplines. He also served as the head of global quality assurance at a $270 million medical device manufacturing business.
His career features extensive experience in quality management systems, regulatory agency and notified body inspections, as well as significant project management experience in deploying and directing quality assurance systems covering governance, validation, CAPA, complaints, adverse event and vigilance reporting, audit functions, documentation and records management. Additionally, Fraser has broad clinical therapeutic experience in several areas including endocrine/metabolic, CNS, genitourinary, musculoskeletal and infectious diseases. His medical device experience spans ONS, orthopedic, cardiovascular and wound management therapeutic areas, as well as several others.
Fraser is a registered pharmacist in the U.K., holds a master’s degree in information technology, is a certified ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems lead auditor and also achieved Chartered IT Professional Fellowship status with the British Computer Society.
