Executive Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer

Judd Hartman serves as executive vice president and chief administrative officer for PPD. In this role, he is responsible for the company’s human resources, quality and enterprise learning, and corporate communications functions. Hartman reports to PPD’s chairman and chief executive officer and is a member of the company’s executive committee. He also served as the company’s general counsel from 2001 until early this year, responsible for the company’s global legal affairs.

Hartman joined PPD in 2001 after serving as vice president of legal affairs for Anker Coal Group, Inc., headquartered in Morgantown, West Virginia. In that position, he managed the company’s mergers and acquisitions activities, administered its credit facilities and related SEC reporting obligations, and managed its land and mineral department with holdings in West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland.

Previously, Hartman was a partner with Spilman Thomas & Battle, a regional law firm headquartered in Charleston, West Virginia, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions in coal, health care and other industries, as well as joint ventures and commercial lending.

Hartman earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from Washington and Lee University and a law degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law.
