Margaret Vernon, Ph.D.
Margaret Vernon, Ph.D., serves as senior vice president of patient affairs for Evidera, a PPD business recognized for its expertise in real-world evidence and data analytics, health economics, patient-centered research and strategic consultation services in medical science, clinical development and market access. In this role she supports PPD’s overall patient-centricity strategy, as well as serving as global head of Evidera’s patient-centered research, medical writing and health care communications practices. She has strategic oversight and general management responsibilities for these two practices, and supports operations and strategy for Evidera’s overall business. Further, she is a subject matter expert regarding patient-reported outcome (PRO) instrument development and validation programs with a special interest in measurement in rare diseases. She has expertise in regulatory strategy and PRO clinical trial implementation and analysis, as well as significant experience and formal training in both qualitative and quantitative methods.
Dr. Vernon joined Evidera in 2012 as a senior research scientist. In 2016, she was named vice president and general manager of patient-centered research, followed by global head of patient-centered research and medical writing in 2019. She was named to her current position in 2020. Prior to Evidera, she was a research scientist for United BioSource LLC. She began her career as a research psychologist with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Dr. Vernon earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D. in psychology with a concentration in research methods and statistics from Pennsylvania State University.
