Margaret Vernon, Ph.D.

Global Head, Patient-Centered Research, Evidera

Margaret Vernon, Ph.D., serves as global head of patient-centered research for Evidera, a PPD business recognized for its expertise in real-world evidence and data analytics, health economics, patient-centered research and strategic consultation services in medical science, clinical development and market access. In this role, she provides business leadership and strategic oversight for the company’s patient-centered research and medical writing health care communications practices, and she supports operations and strategy for the Evidera business overall. Further, she is a subject matter expert regarding patient-reported outcome (PRO) instrument development and validation programs with a special interest in measurement in rare diseases. She has expertise in regulatory strategy and PRO clinical trial implementation and analysis, as well as significant experience and formal training in both qualitative and quantitative methods.

Dr. Vernon joined Evidera in 2012 as a senior research scientist. In 2016, she was named vice president and general manager of patient-centered research, followed by global head of patient-centered research and medical writing in 2019. She was named to her current position in 2020. Prior to Evidera, she was a research scientist for United BioSource LLC. She began her career as a research psychologist with the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Dr. Vernon earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Ph.D. in psychology from Pennsylvania State University.
