POSTER
Investigation of Dry Powder Inhaler (DPI) Dose Aerosolization and Transport During Transient Airflows from Stationary to Target Flow Rate
Ian Carter, Thermo Fisher Scientific – co-author
James Jamison, Priors PLM – co-author
Overview
High-speed X-Ray videography and subsequent in silico modeling enable the fundamental elucidation of the dose aerosolization process from a DPI device subjected to varying SS air flows and transient ramp rates. The in silico modeling elucidates the importance of the particle/device collision energy, which derives from the flow ramp rate. From these findings, control of transient ramp rates may be of benefit or even essential for DPI APSD characterizations that indicate realistic patient dosing.
